Wd drive utilities fails on osx 10.9.5 password#
You must know your login password in order to log in. The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow. Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models.
Wd drive utilities fails on osx 10.9.5 software#
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.ĭisconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Please read this whole message before doing anything. You don't need "Tuxera" or anything else to read Windows-formatted volumes you only need it to write them. Any suggestions that could help me read these drives once again would be most appreciated! I tried "verify disk" but it does not work. I tried Mounting the drive but it did not work. I do see the hard drive in Disk Utility but the name of the drive that appears beneath the drive description is grayed out. Under Finder I do not see the hard drives under "Devices".

Its possible that Tuxera may not read on this new OS version my recollection is that Western Digital places their own version of Tuxera on the hard drive to enable translation. I can read all of these external hard drives on my macbook air and my other imac at home so it is not the hard drives or cables themselves.

Two hard drives are NTFS formatted but I installed Tuxera to enable translation (based on another Apple forum) and it has worked great. The one I can read is dedicated as my Time Machine it is a WD My Passport 1 tb drive that I don't believe is formatted in FAT32. I just updated my imac with OS X 10.9.5 and now I can not read two of my three external hard drives although I was able to read them just fine before
